FRIENDSHIP WITH IRAN: IS IRAN A GENTLEMAN?
These days our friendship with Iran is the matter of hot discussion in international parlours. And thus our relationships with Iran has entered into a critical phase after our restored friendship with US. The hard fact is Iran can’t ignore India, as it ignores the other nations' views.
It is rules of friendship that the neighbours have to earn the friendships rather than assuming it by default. The Iran understands the same.
It has done much dancing in the case of pricingthe gas to be supplied to India. So far the pipeline and the gas trade is concerned, the gas, unlike petrol, is a commodity that can be sold only to the neighbours who are ready to bear the huge cost of laying and maintaining pipeline.
And one thing about Iran's atomic adventures: were Iran a gentleman, it would have sought India’s help officially in the field of nuclear energy, instead entering a clandestine deal with Pakistan.
Statutory warning: Iran is the nation who had declared death sentence for an India born world renouned writer, Salman Rushdie for his writing something in a novel.
India's position: we respect all of our friends, irrespective of their past behaviour.
East or West, India is the best.
